I have come to the realization that I have not been fulfilling a promise made to myself when it comes to the creation and upkeep of this blog. My main goal was to capture the many little adventures that life provides and share them through photos and/or writings. I don’t feel like I have been very vigilant at this. For this I apologize, not only to myself but to those that actually check up on this. I will try harder in the future.
The main reason for this post is to give those who are not familiar with where I grew up a glimpse of the area I call home. So basically that’s you Angie (unless you know others in KC that would be interested in my ramblings:)). As well as to rededicate myself to the joy of landscape photography. As you can see I have had the pleasure of beautiful surroundings for a good portion of my life.
I now know it was the culmination of these beautiful places that stoked the fires of my creativity throughout my youth and into today. If you were to take a gander at my albums you would notice that many of my photos have two things in common; water and mountains. I believe these elements are the heart and soul of the Pacific Northwest. Not to mention, when you live on an island surrounded by mountain ranges they are bound to be in the background.
Now that I live on the opposite side of the mountains from where I grew up I have unknown territories to explore. I am quite sure I will develop a fondness for the surrounding landscapes and the desert terrain. I look forward to sharing future shots of my new home with all of you.
PHOTOS: The top photo is looking out over Puget Sound from West Beach on Whidbey Island, WA. This is one of my all time favorite shots. Photo number two is an overlooking shot of Oak Harbor, WA. Located on Whidbey Island it was my hometown for many years. The bottom right photo was taken by a friend during a trek into the Cascade Mountain Range. I have spent many joyous hours hiking around those “hills”. Unfortunately due to technological mishaps I have very few pictures to show for it. One day I will venture there again and return victorious with oodles of quality shots.
